Sussex County Hauntings
and Other Strange Phenomena: Part II
Sussex County Hauntings
Sussex County Hauntings and Other Strange Phenomena: Part II is the second in a series describing firsthand accounts from residents of local counties in North Jersey. Some of the topics touched on in Part I include the mines that fed much of the economy in this area for centuries, Bigfoot sightings, unidentified flying object and/or extraterrestrial sightings, and other strange phenomena, of course. Eleanor Wagner investigates more of the same in Part II, delving into the history of some local landmarks like The Great Gorge Playboy Club and Mountain Creek in Vernon, Gingerbread Castle in Hamburg, Brick and Mortar Marketplace in Lafayette, Stanhope House, Crescent Theatre in Sussex, Lusscroft Farm in Wantage, and countless other locations. We’ve barely brushed the surface of this existence plane; only time and experience will enable us to truly comprehend it. Take another journey through time and history… but leave the light on. “She drove slowly, keeping an eye out for deer that might jump in front of her vehicle. Up ahead just beyond the reach of her headlights, she caught sight of an extremely tall, shadowy figure walking across the road on two feet. It reached the other side and actually stepped over the guardrail without effort, proceeding down the embankment and into the swamp on the other side. Who the heck would be going into the swamp at this time of night? Jean Marie was stunned and not quite sure what to make of it. Any human, even extraordinarily tall, would have difficulty getting over the giant guardrail. She wondered if the mysterious scream she heard was connected. She called her friend Robin as soon as she was safely home. ‘You're never gonna’ believe this,' she told her. ‘But I think I just saw Bigfoot at Owens Station Crossing.'"

Being from this part of the world my whole life, I am reading about my home and its history. I love these stories.
Of course we're haunted, we've been here a long time. Revolutionary War soldiers that lived and breathed for their country walked this ground!
Our cemeteries hold brothers who fought against each other in the Civil War. Love the history with a touch of creep[iness]!
I got the book on Friday afternoon and finished on Sunday. It was great reading about places I know and have been at.
It brings back memories. All in all a great book and I recommend both Parts 1 & 2 to everyone I know.
Read the book in a matter of hours, couldn't put it down. A great read with a lot of history and interesting stories. Would highly recommend!
Awesome book! Loved all the stories and the history of Sussex County. So far, I read all of her books and enjoyed every one of them.
